South32 is seeking approval for an extension to their existing Dendrobium Mine, near Mt Kembla. They are seeking an extension into Areas 5 and 6, which would extend the life of the mine from 2024 to 2048, undermining deeper under the Greater Sydney Water Catchment. This proposed extension is a clear threat to both the water security of 5 million people in the Greater Sydney region, as well as having immense greenhouse gas emissions.
